Towards sustainable and resilient EU food system: Press release on the Farm to Fork strategy
A press release titled "Farm to fork strategy: Public hearing on improving the EU’s food system" became recently available on the European Parliament’s website. The publication informs about the discussion between experts and Members of European Parliament from the Agriculture and Environment committees. During the meeting, the main topic of discussion between the present parties were the possible ways through which the EU food system may become more sustainable, resilient and fairer.
The public hearing has been divided in two panel sessions, one focusing on the food systems and policies and the second, emphasising on the healthy diets and sustainable production. During both panels, the opinion of academics, farmers’ representatives, NGO’s and the Commission has been taken under consideration.
Further on the agenda were discussions concerning the alternative ways for improving lifestyles and health, as well as the reduction of environmental and climate footprint of the EU food system from farm to fork.
