Between 27 and 29 March 2023, the 97th Annual Conference of the Agricultural Economics Society (AES) took place at the University of Warwick, UK. The three-day event showcased various presentations from leading experts, poster presentations, as well as workshops on bio-economic modelling, the Green Revolution, uptake of low-carbon practices by farmers and more.

Amongst the participants was BESTMAP's partner Dr. Alena Schmidt of the University of Basel, who represented BESTMAP at the event, as part of a joint workshop with the Agrimodels cluster. In a dedicated presentation titled "Benefits & challenges to linking CGE/PE models with agent-based models," she presented results from a workshop hosted by BESTMAP in May of 2022 on linking CGE/PE models with agent-based models. Modellers from our sister projects MIND STEP and Agricore engaged in a discussion about common challenges and opportunities linking these models present.
