BESTMAP at GEO BON Global Conference: Monitoring Biodiversity for Action

BESTMAP had the honour of participating in The Global Conference on Biodiversity and Monitoring, organised by GEO BON and its partners from 10-13 October 2023 in Montreal, Canada. The topic this year was ‘Monitoring Biodiversity for Action’. A central focus of this year's GEO BON conference was the development of best practices and new technologies for biodiversity observations and monitoring to support transformative policy and conservation action.

The conference provided a platform for the sharing and exchange of scientific and traditional knowledge concerning biodiversity change, spanning from genes to ecosystems. The event also delved into the associated contributions to people across all sectors of society, as well as discussions on conservation, sustainable use, and shared benefits. The conference served as an instrumental venue to foster collaboration and inspire future efforts in the realm of biodiversity monitoring and conservation.

At the conference, BESTMAP shared an exhibition stand alongside the projects EuropaBON and B-Cubed. Participants were able to pass by the stand and grab some of the projects’ promo materials. Brochures informing about the ecosystem services and conservation themed journals of PENSOFT were also available.
